Dave Empey

President, MP’s Driver Education

Dave has been a cornerstone of driver education in the Oxford County area for over 33 years. He began his career in 1990 teaching high school driver education programs, and in 1993 founded MP’s Driver Education with a clear vision: to offer a more personalized, one-on-one approach to helping new drivers build confidence and skill. Today, Dave works behind the scenes to ensure the school runs smoothly and maintains the high standards that have made MP’s a trusted name in Woodstock, Ingersoll, and the surrounding communities.

One of the things Dave finds most rewarding is the legacy the MP’s Driver Education has built over the decades — former students are now bringing their own children to MP’s when it’s time to learn to drive. He loves that Woodstock offers the best of both worlds: easy access to major highways and larger cities, while still being close to the small-town feel of the surrounding rural communities. His message to nervous new drivers? The nerves fade as you get more comfortable behind the wheel — and he’s been helping students prove that for over three decades.

Angela Empey

Director of Operations and Co-owner

Angela has been part of the MP’s Driver Education family for over 30 years, and as co-owner and Director of Operations alongside her husband Dave, she plays a central role in keeping the school running day to day — supporting students and instructors alike. She obtained her in-car instructor certification in 1997 and still loves getting behind the wheel with students, whether that’s helping novice drivers work toward their G2 and G licenses or supporting senior drivers in maintaining theirs.

Angela’s approach is open and communicative — she makes sure students always know how they’re progressing and where they can improve, while keeping the encouragement flowing throughout. She’s deeply passionate about producing drivers who aren’t just licensed, but genuinely safe on the road. With the busy streets of Woodstock and the 401 and 403 nearby, she knows the stakes are real.

Gordon Pease

Driving Instructor

With 40 years of in-car instruction and over 30 years in the classroom, Gordon is one of the most experienced driving instructors you’ll find anywhere. He began teaching in-car driver education in 1986 and added in-class instruction in 1992, bringing a depth of knowledge and a calm, reassuring presence that students have appreciated for decades.

Gordon is known for making lessons feel less stressful — his patient, relaxed approach helps nervous drivers ease into the experience and actually enjoy the process of learning. That same energy carries into the classroom, where his in-class sessions consistently earn top marks in student surveys for being engaging and fun. Outside of driving instruction, Gordon is an active member of the local amateur radio community and volunteers with the Region of Waterloo at classic car shows and events — a reminder that his love of the road goes well beyond the classroom.

Taran Singh

Driving Instructor

Taran has been part of the MP’s Driver Education family since May 2022, and his background as a full-time truck driver makes him a uniquely skilled instructor — giving him firsthand experience with complex maneuvering, safety protocols, and real-world hazards that he brings into every lesson.

Taran loves the strong community feel Woodstock has to offer and takes pride in helping young people here become safe, independent drivers. His go-to reminder for nervous students is that everyone starts somewhere, and that confidence comes with practice. He’s especially energized by teaching Gen Z learners, who he finds quick to pick up new skills and open to feedback. For Taran, the most rewarding moment is watching a nervous student transform into someone who feels truly comfortable behind the wheel.

Ranjit Chahal

Driving Instructor

Ranjit has been part of the MP’s Driver Education family since 2022, and it’s grown into much more than a job — she’s built lasting connections with her students and takes genuine pride in watching them grow into confident, independent drivers.

Her approach is warm and unhurried, and she has a natural gift for putting first-timers at ease. Her go-to message for nervous new drivers sets the tone perfectly: “Don’t worry — you’re not expected to be perfect. I’m here to guide you, and we’ll take it one step at a time together.” That patience carries through every lesson, and it shows in how quickly her students progress. Ranjit loves that Woodstock offers the best of both worlds — the convenience of a small city with the warmth of a close, supportive community — and she’s proud to be part of a school that reflects those same values.

Asima Hanif

Driving Instructor

Asima joined the MP’s Driver Education family in 2023, and has 8 years of experience, including time teaching in a larger city before making Woodstock home. That background gives her a well-rounded perspective on navigating a variety of road conditions and traffic environments — experience she draws on in every lesson.

Asima’s teaching style is calm, patient, and encouraging, with a focus on helping students feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel. She believes that a relaxed student is a focused student, and her go-to reassurance for first-timers says it all: “Don’t worry — we’re here to help you.” Asima loves the quieter pace of Woodstock compared to bigger city life, and feels right at home in a community — and a driver education program — that values care and connection.

Sarbjit Singh

Driving Instructor

Saabi has been a certified in-car driving instructor since January 2022 and joined the MP’s Driver Education team in June 2023. His background as a full-time truck driver, means he has firsthand experience guiding students through the practical skills needed to become safe, confident drivers. Sarbjit brings dedication and professionalism to every lesson.
